Problem:
Madagascar is a nation with over 200,000 genus of plant and animal life that don’t exist anywhere else in the world. Over 80% of Madagascar’s original forests have been destroyed, entire species have been displaced taking away the Malagasy’s ability to farm and live on the land.
Solution:
Today, your trees counteract desertification and bring back homes of Madagascar's wildlife. They provide fuel and building material for the local villagers and fruit to feed them. We primarily plant mangrove trees which capture and filter more carbon dioxide than any other tree on the planet, being the most effective tree to fight climate change. The trees we plant in Madagascar don't just protect the environment, they protect the people too.

Problem:
Rural villagers in Nepal are some of the poorest in the world and directly depend on their natural environment for food, shelter and income. When local ecosystems are damaged, the poor are the first to suffer. Without financial resources or the knowledge to manage vulnerable resources in a sustainable way, they often further degrade their lands in order to survive, perpetuating their poverty.
Solution:
Entire villages have been empowered as they plant trees we help provide to restore their forests and children go to school instead of going to the forests to cut logs for fuel. By planting trees and rejuvenating the forest systems the water tables rises, and water purity improves, agricultural production increases, and wildlife habitats are restored.

Problem:
Indonesians rely heavily on the biodiversity of their environment for subsistence needs. Traditional fishermen rely on the wetland ecosystems all around the islands, including mangroves, coral reefs and sea grass for their livelihood. In the last 3 decades, Indonesia has lost over 40% of its mangrove forests, affecting not only the environment and the species that rely on them but also the communities that depend on this ecosystem for survival.
Solution:
With your help we're reducing the effects of flooding, tsunami's and soil erosion by restoring the mangrove forests. The reforestation of mangrove ecosystems also provides a safe nursery for schooling fish as well as increased livelihoods for the villagers that depends on their environment for survival. This helps increase the population of the 135 threatened mammal species that live in the area, including the endangered Sumatran Tiger, Orangutan’s, the Javan Rhinoceros and Sumatran Elephants.
Create seedlings in local beds - An area owned by the local lead farmer. There, they can watch over the community's seedlings.
Just before the rainy season, the seedlings are big enough to be transplanted into a forest garden. Farmers from all over will come to get their allocation of seedlings and take them back to plant in their garden. With the rainy season soon to come, it gives the seedlings a greater chance of survival.
These young trees are not only susceptible to weather like drought and landslides but they are also a great source of food for wandering cattle coming through the area. In order to prevent the trees from getting destroyed or eaten, the farmers actively guard and protect their garden.
